Deserts, Diamonds and Dubai
Dubai is about adventure, amazing cuisine, culture and of course, shopping. And in Dubai, no one does luxury better than them. My first visit of the day was Roger Dubuis. Founded in 1995 by a talented watchmaker of the same name, Roger Dubuis strikes a fine balance between traditional watchmaking expertise and avant-garde design. From the moment you set foot in the store, you know you are somewhere very special. Denis Tell, the Retail Manager for the Middle East, showed me two spectacular pieces which demonstrated their eye for design. And of course, looking is one thing, but trying on is another! They selected the following watches for me to try on
- The woman bespoke Velvet with red Stripe, full pave diamonds (12.01cts) and 2 rubies (1.04cts) in white Gold
- The man watch is the Excalibur 45 Double Flying Tourbillon stamped with the Poincon de Genève in Pink Gold
They took me to watch a short film which showed the detail and precision that goes into these timepieces which was fascinating. If Andrew is really nice to me I might get him one…might!
My fairytale experience in Dubai continued into Dhamani. Andrew had my engagement ring designed here so this shop in particular is very close to my heart.
Since 1969, Dhamani is renowned for the finest jewellery set in world-class designs. As I walked into the store, I was welcomed by their CEO Amit Dhamani. It was an incredible experience to speak to the man himself who then proceeded to show me the most amazing jewels. The first piece he wanted me to try on was the 106 carat pave diamond with a central stone of 34 carats. It was pear shaped and completely breath-taking. I never wanted to take it off. Then came the ‘wow’ moment, the tiara. The tiara featured 83cts of diamonds from white to pink. As you can see the pictures, I was in heaven! Isn’t it every girls dream to wear a princess tiara?!
My final destination was Espeka Diamonds. Established by Osias Pruwer in 1958, this small family business has grown to be a world leader. I was introduced to Alex Peterfreund, Director for the Middle East who proceeded explain the company’s ability and expertise to handle all types of rough diamonds with a specialty in Russian fine cut diamonds. Alex then showed me some melee diamonds and one unset 5,36 carat emerald shape diamond. It’s easy to understand why ‘diamonds are a girl’s best friend!!’
Thank you to the team at Quintessentially Lifestyle who introduced me to Arnaud Flambeau (Board Member of the Dubai Diamond Exchange – DMCC, Expert in Luxury and Jewelry, Former CEO of the high end jewelry brand SCINTILLA MONACO, Former International Director for COOKSON PRECIOUS METALS Europe.) With more than 20 years of extensive experience in luxury brands and goods, Arnaud has a large network from mines to diamonds houses all over the world. With such amazing knowledge and passion, he arranged for me to have totally unique and indulgent diamond experience in Dubai. One I certainly won’t forget!
