Off and Racing
The Spring Carnival is now behind us but what wonderful week it was. Melbourne really comes to life over the Spring Racing Carnival, and this year was no exception. The week attracted both seasoned race-goers and fashionistas alike, all embracing the spirit of the carnival for a fantastic time filled with colour, laughter and fun. The traditional Derby Day, where black and white outfits dominate the fashion. I wore an incredible dress and matching cape from Cose Ipanema. I was lucky enough to be invited by Emirates and spent a beautiful afternoon with Andrew talking to friends and simply soaking up the atmosphere.
My Italian roots came to the fore on Melbourne Cup Day, where I spent time in the wonderful Lavazza marquee. The Melbourne Cup is the biggest day on the racing calendar and WOW, a female jockey winning the race on an outsider, this day will go down in racing history. A huge Congratulations to winning jockey Michelle Payne.
Rainy Thursday made Oaks Day a little challenging and dampened a few feathers (and fascinators!) but there was still some wonderful fashion to be found under the umbrellas and raincoats. Finally Saturday and the Stakes. One more outfit, a beautiful Dries van Noten dress from Cose Ipanema, thank you Sam it was perfect. I was so spoilt, I spent the day with friends who had booked their own marquee! It was a little like an unsponsored race car, no branding, just a fun day with friends.
Melbourne really knows how to host events, it is such a cosmopolitan city and I love living here. Thank you to everyone that supported me during the Carnival, Raymond Charles with my hair, Zoe with my makeup, Cose Ipanema, hats by Fatemeh Vafaeinejad and finally Mr Norbury for putting up with his absent Wife.
